Sharky’s History

Greg Novak and Mike Pachota grew up near each other in a small suburb outside Detroit, Michigan. Neither of them realized that a friendship forged back in 1968 would find them twenty years later as partners.

The boys from Detroit crossed paths many times; however, it wasn't until each had a partner of their own: Marijo and Donna respectively, that they became business partners. While in Michigan their clan grew to eight with the addition of four children Leslie, Justin, Megan and Nick. In 1982, after several successful business ventures in Michigan, they headed south to Florida to open "Patches" their first restaurant on the other side of town. In 1983 Katie's arrival rounded the Klan to nine, and it was in '86 that Novak and Pachota won the bid to convert the site of an old beach concession located at the base of the original fishing pier into a restaurant. Sharky's opened on February 10, 1987 to 78 seats and a host of hungry folks. Their vision was to offer some of the freshest fish and seafood around, in a family friendly atmosphere. Their mission has served them well and many years later, Sharky's is now a landmark for fabulous food and fantastic sunsets, serving over a half million folks a year. In '91 they sold Patches Restaurant to concentrate their efforts on Sharky's.

In season we serve up to two thousand customers on an average day. If you find that we have overlooked anything, besides the Gulf of Mexico, please let us know. We always welcome your suggestions and comments.
